Hey everybody.. hope everyone had an AMAZING Thanksgiving! I know I did.. and am so thankful for everything God has given me and allows me to be involved in. I am truly blessed. Anyone go Black Friday shopping? My entire family for the first time ever decided to go to Best Buy last night at midnight.. needless to say, it took us about 30 minutes just to get in the doors.. and then once I found an awesome deal on an external hard drive, I realized the line was 300 people long and said “forget this”. It was definitely an adventure.. seeing all those people lined up around the entire building of best buy into the alleyway out back but it was far too long a line for me to wait.
Anyway, boy has it been a busy few weeks. I have been really hard at it in the studio (home studio) working with two artists back and forth. One being Abram Dean, who I have worked with before. Abram is a part of the Septien Group who has been part of putting out lots of major artists such as Demi Lovato. Abram has got a really great sound and his voice reminds me a lot of Nick Jonas with a twist. I really enjoy working on his stuff because no matter what, he always comes with a real cool catchy song written and knows pretty much everything he wants to put on it.. it’s just a matter of getting in the studio and getting it done. I’ve been working on one song with him for a few sessions that is really going to turn out awesome. The second artist I have been working with is Littleton (Litt) Odom. Litt’s recently graduated from Oceans Edge school of worship and is now pursuing a music career of his own. He reminds me and Cameron Mitchell a lot of James Morrison and Ben Rector. His songs are very easy listening but still poppy. The most recent song we’ve nearly finished is really an awesome song that I could easily see myself listening to any time. He’s writing all his own songs and music which makes him really stand out. I’m really looking forward to letting everybody hear all of this new music.. it’s going to blow all of your minds.
Besides having been busy with working on those two guys, I have had a few other people I’ve done a couple sessions with that are still works in progress.. but one in particular that has been finished is a song Cameron Mitchell and I recorded a couple months ago. Cameron just released it on iTunes yesterday and it’s called “Not Going Home“. I actually wrote this song’s chords and tempo one day for a project up at my school. I had Cameron come over and help me finish working out the details. Just about 8 hours later, we had already recorded the entire song and I mixed it all that same night so that I could turn it in for my school project the next day. Probably the fastest song we have ever recorded.. but one of my favorites, probably because I actually played a part in writing the chords of the song. This song was actually fully recorded and everything RIGHT before we began recording Cameron’s “Blackbird” Cover which was done around 4am in my bedroom while the family was asleep. We both get tons of stuff done late at night.. until something funny happens and we both start laughing so hard we’re crying… then we end up having to quit for the night and come back the next morning.
Here’s a couple screen shots of the final pro tools session for his song. Any of you audio engineer’s out there may like seeing this.. so I thought I’d post them. Let me know if you want any more info on it!
Anyway, that’s just a little behind the scenes on that and just what’s been going on in my life lately. Hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was awesome!
And go buy Cameron’s song!
